General context and the importance of the continuity of health services

The Ministry of Health's plan during the Eid al-Adha holiday is of exceptional importance, as it coincides with the peak of the Hajj season, during which the Kingdom receives millions of pilgrims from around the world. The healthcare of the pilgrims is a top priority for the Saudi government, which dedicates all its resources to ensuring their safety. Historically, the Kingdom has consistently developed its healthcare system in the holy sites, deploying field hospitals, integrated health centers, and mobile medical teams to provide preventive, curative, and emergency services to the pilgrims. The emphasis on ensuring that healthcare services remain unaffected by the holiday reflects this unwavering commitment and reinforces the health sector's readiness to handle any health emergencies that may arise during this busy period.

Expected impact at the local and international levels

Domestically, this measure aims to reassure citizens and residents that all medical services, from emergency departments to clinics and hospitals, will operate at full capacity to meet their urgent and non-urgent healthcare needs. Internationally, this announcement sends a strong message to the Islamic world and the international community about the Kingdom's ability to manage massive crowds and provide a sophisticated healthcare infrastructure capable of meeting challenges. It also enhances the Kingdom's reputation as a safe and reliable destination for Hajj, positively impacting its regional and international standing.

Mechanisms for organizing work during vacation

The Ministry of Health, in its circular, stressed the necessity for all hospital and health center directors to organize shift schedules in a way that ensures a sufficient number of medical, technical, and administrative staff. It emphasized the importance of using the "Hayyak" system to record attendance and departure for those assigned to work, and to compensate them with alternative days off in accordance with approved regulations and bylaws, in appreciation of their efforts during this critical period. The Ministry called upon all its employees to review the circular and implement it to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of services.
