High-level Saudi-Jordanian coordination to address regional challenges

Within the framework of ongoing consultations and close coordination between the two brotherly kingdoms, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation with His Excellency Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The telephone discussions focused on reviewing the latest developments in the region and exploring ways to enhance joint efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.

Historical relations and strategic coordination

These talks represent another link in a long chain of Saudi-Jordanian coordination, rooted in deep-seated and fraternal historical ties between the two countries and their leaderships. Riyadh and Amman have long been pillars of moderation and stability in the Middle East, sharing similar visions on most regional and international issues. Ongoing consultations between the two countries' foreign ministers are vital for unifying positions and acting in a coordinated manner in international forums, serving common Arab interests and strengthening regional security.

The Palestinian issue and developments in Gaza were at the heart of the discussions

Although the official statement did not specify the details of the issues, it is understood that the tragic developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are a top priority in these discussions. Both Saudi Arabia and Jordan are exerting intensive diplomatic efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the sufficient and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to the population. The two kingdoms also share a rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land and affirm that a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian question lies in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant UN resolutions.

The importance of communication and its regional and international impact

This coordination is of paramount importance given the escalating challenges facing the region, which extend beyond the Palestinian issue to include tensions in the Red Sea and the situations in Syria and Yemen. The unified vision of two pivotal states like Saudi Arabia and Jordan sends a clear message to the international community regarding the unified Arab position calling for de-escalation and prioritizing political solutions. This consultation also strengthens the two countries' ability to confront shared security challenges and underscores their indispensable role as essential pillars in any future arrangements aimed at achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
