The Saudi and Kuwaiti foreign ministers discuss relations in Munich

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today with His Excellency Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, on the sidelines of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s active participation in the Munich Security Conference 2026. This meeting reaffirms the deep fraternal ties between the two countries and continues the approach of ongoing coordination and consultation on issues of common interest.

Strengthening fraternal and historical relations

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the deep-rooted bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait, relations characterized by strength and historical depth spanning decades, based on kinship, neighborliness, and a shared destiny. They discussed ways to enhance these relations in various political, economic, and security fields, in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples and fulfills the aspirations of the wise leadership in both countries.

The two ministers touched on the importance of activating joint work mechanisms, particularly through the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council, which is an institutional umbrella aimed at raising the level of bilateral cooperation to broader horizons, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and Kuwait’s Vision 2035, and enhancing economic and developmental integration among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Discussion of regional and international challenges

Regarding regional and international developments, the two sides discussed a number of pressing issues in the region, emphasizing the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and maintain international peace and security. The ministers reviewed the efforts undertaken to address these urgent matters, stressing the need for unified Gulf and Arab positions in international forums, particularly in light of the security and geopolitical challenges facing the world, which require close coordination to confront them.
