Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Ramadan Programs: Dates and copies of the Quran for 120 countries

In a move reflecting the pioneering role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving Islam and Muslims around the world, His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, launched today in the capital, Riyadh, a package of quality programs implemented by the Ministry during the holy month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH, in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

These annual programs come as part of the Kingdom’s noble mission to extend bridges of communication with Muslims in the East and West, and to address their needs during the holy month. This year, the programs target 120 countries, with a notable increase in the number of countries and the quantities distributed compared to previous years.

Program details and records

The launch included three major programs, the largest of their kind:

  • The Holy Quran Distribution Program: It aims to distribute two million and two hundred thousand copies of the Holy Quran and translations of its meanings, which contributes to spreading the Book of God and delivering it to Muslims in their different languages across the five continents.
  • The Dates Gift Program: 1,000 tons of premium dates have been allocated for distribution this year, an increase of 300 tons over the previous year, reflecting Saudi generosity and the keenness to share the joy of breaking the fast with Muslims through a national product that is spiritually linked to this month.
  • The program for providing iftar meals to fasting people: which is held in the courtyards of mosques and Islamic centers in the targeted countries, according to an integrated system that ensures that the good reaches those who deserve it.

Ambassadors of Moderation: The Imamate Program

In addition to in-kind assistance, the Ministry launched a program to send imams, dispatching 91 imams to lead Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers and deliver religious lessons in 49 countries. This program aims to promote the values of moderation and tolerance, clarify the true image of Islam, and strengthen fraternal ties between the Kingdom and the people of those countries.

A universal message and humanitarian dimensions

In his remarks during the launch ceremony, Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Sheikh emphasized that these programs are not merely fleeting acts of charity, but rather a global humanitarian message stemming from the Kingdom's established principles and values. He noted that reaching 120 countries, with the addition of 18 new countries to the list of beneficiaries this year, embodies the wise leadership's commitment to ensuring that goodness reaches every Muslim, wherever they may be.

His Excellency added that the Ministry has harnessed all its human, technical and logistical capabilities to ensure the implementation of these programs with the highest standards of quality and accuracy, in coordination with embassies, religious attachés and Islamic centers, to ensure that these gifts and aid reach those who deserve them in a timely manner, which enhances the Kingdom’s position as the beating heart of the Islamic world and a guardian of its interests.
