The Saudi leadership offers condolences to the King of Jordan on the death of Ali Abu al-Ragheb

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, sent a cable of condolences to His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the death of His Excellency Engineer Ali Abu Al-Ragheb, the former Prime Minister, expressing his sincere condolences to the Hashemite family and to the family of the deceased.
In his telegram, the King said: “We have learned of the death of His Excellency Engineer Ali Abu Al-Ragheb, the former Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan – may God have mercy on him – and we send to Your Majesty and to the family of the deceased our deepest condolences and sincere sympathy, and we ask God Almighty to have mercy on him and forgive him, and to grant him a place in His spacious Paradise, and to protect you from all harm. Indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return.”.
In the same vein, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, sent a similar cable of condolences to His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince said: “I received the news of the passing of His Excellency Engineer Ali Abu Ragheb, former Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan – may God have mercy on him – and I extend to Your Majesty and the family of the deceased my deepest condolences and sincere sympathy, asking Almighty God to grant him His abundant mercy and forgiveness, and to admit him to His spacious Paradise, and to protect you from all harm. He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive.”.
A distinguished career in service to Jordan
The passing of Engineer Ali Abu Ragheb comes after a distinguished political and economic career. He is considered one of the most prominent political figures in modern Jordanian history. He served as Prime Minister and Minister of Defense from 2000 to 2003, a pivotal period that marked the beginning of King Abdullah II's reign. His tenure was characterized by a focus on economic and legislative modernization. His government played a key role in launching the Aqaba Special Economic Zone and enacting numerous laws aimed at liberalizing the economy and attracting foreign investment, leaving a clear mark on the Kingdom's economic structure.
