The Saudi leadership congratulates the President of Serbia on the anniversary of the National Day

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, sent a congratulatory cable to His Excellency President Aleksandar Vucic, President of the Republic of Serbia, on the occasion of his country’s National Day, stressing the depth of relations that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the friendly Republic of Serbia.

In his telegram, the King expressed his sincere congratulations and best wishes for health and happiness to His Excellency, and for continued progress and prosperity to the government and people of the friendly Republic of Serbia, noting the Kingdom’s keenness to enhance joint cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both countries.

Crown Prince's telegram and confirmation of partnership

In the same vein, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, sent a similar congratulatory cable to His Excellency President Aleksandar Vučić. His Royal Highness expressed his warmest congratulations and best wishes for the President's continued health and happiness, and wished the government and people of the Republic of Serbia further progress and prosperity, in a move reflecting the Saudi leadership's commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations with various countries around the world.

The importance of Serbian National Day and its historical background

This greeting coincides with Serbia's National Day, also known as "State Day," a pivotal moment in the country's history. The day commemorates the beginning of the First Serbian Uprising in 1804, which paved the way for modern Serbia's independence, as well as the promulgation of the country's first constitution in 1835. This day symbolizes the sovereignty and national identity of the Serbian people, with official and public celebrations taking place in the capital, Belgrade, and various other Serbian cities.

Dimensions of Saudi-Serbian relations

These cables are particularly significant given the remarkable development in relations between Riyadh and Belgrade in recent years. As part of its open vision and balanced foreign policy, Saudi Arabia seeks to build bridges of cooperation with the Balkan states, and considers Serbia an important partner in the region.

The past period has witnessed an exchange of official visits and discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation in various fields, most notably the economy, tourism, agriculture, and technology. The continuous congratulatory messages from the Saudi leadership underscore the Kingdom's strong diplomatic commitment to supporting friendly nations on their national occasions, thus enhancing its soft power and reaffirming its pivotal role on the international stage as a nation that supports peace, stability, and global development.
