Eid al-Adha, which culminates the great pilgrimage of Hajj, is a religious and social occasion of paramount importance in the Islamic calendar. Muslims around the world celebrate this festival to commemorate the story of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), which symbolizes obedience, faith, and devotion. It also represents an opportunity to strengthen the values of social solidarity and compassion within the community, as Muslims exchange visits and greetings and offer sacrifices to the poor and needy, embodying the spirit of Islamic unity and solidarity.
The exchange of greetings among leaders of Islamic countries on such occasions is not merely a diplomatic tradition, but rather an expression of Islamic unity and a renewal of the fraternal bonds that unite Muslim peoples. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the birthplace of revelation, plays a leading role in serving Islam and Muslims, and these messages affirm this pivotal role and the respect and esteem its wise leadership enjoys among the leaders of the Islamic world.
In their gracious replies, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Prime Minister – may God protect them – sent messages of thanks to the leaders of Islamic countries, expressing their deep appreciation for the kind wishes and sincere prayers contained in their messages. These diplomatic exchanges come at a time when the world demands greater solidarity and cooperation among Islamic countries to confront shared challenges and promote regional and international peace and stability. The messages of congratulations and the responses to them strengthen communication and open broader horizons for cooperation in various fields—political, economic, and cultural—thus contributing to the realization of the aspirations of Muslim peoples for a better future characterized by security and prosperity.
This joyous occasion, and the accompanying exchange of greetings, underscores the importance of unity and solidarity among Muslims, and recalls the noble values advocated by Islam, such as love, tolerance, and cooperation.
