Head of Media Regulation: The media sector is a promising strategic investment for 2026

The CEO of the General Authority for Media Regulation, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdul Latif, affirmed that the media sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is no longer merely a means of disseminating news, but has transformed into a vital strategic investment that directly supports the national economy. This came during his speech at the "Saudi Media Forum 2026," where he highlighted the fundamental transformations taking place in the media landscape.

An attractive regulatory environment for investment

Dr. Al-Abdulatif pointed out that the Kingdom has succeeded in creating a stimulating regulatory and legislative environment, primarily aimed at enhancing the confidence of local and international investors and supporting innovation in the content industry. He explained that this flexible environment ensures the creation of sustainable job opportunities for Saudi nationals and contributes to the sector's rapid growth, aligning with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which positions media as a pillar of soft power and economic diversification.

Saudi Media Forum: A Global Platform

This statement coincides with the launch of the fifth edition of the Saudi Media Forum 2026 in Riyadh, inaugurated by Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossari, under the theme "Media in a Changing World." This event is considered the most prominent regional gathering in the media sector, bringing together more than 300 media leaders and experts from over 20 countries worldwide, reflecting Riyadh's pivotal role as an Arab and international media capital.

Economic and knowledge-based movement via "Fomex"

The forum's role extends beyond its more than 150 panel discussions exploring the intersections of media with politics, economics, and technology. It also encompasses the economic and technological aspects through the accompanying Future of Media Exhibition, "FOMEX." The exhibition features the participation of over 250 local and international companies showcasing the latest broadcasting technologies and artificial intelligence in content creation, opening up significant opportunities for business partnerships and the transfer of technological expertise to the Saudi market.

The strategic importance of the event

The 2026 edition of the forum holds particular significance as it comes at a time of rapid global shifts in media consumption patterns. Through these platforms, the Kingdom aims to lead the regional media landscape, enhance local content, and attract foreign investment in media infrastructure and production, thereby boosting the non-oil sector's contribution to the GDP.
