Hajj emergencies: Every second counts
The hackathon, titled “The Hajj Emergency: Every Second Counts,” highlighted one of the most significant logistical and health challenges the Kingdom faces annually in managing the Hajj season. The aim was to motivate participants to develop innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies to enhance rapid response to emergencies that may arise during massive gatherings. Seven competitive teams participated, comprised not only of Saudi students but also students from other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, adding a regional dimension to the competition and reflecting the spirit of Gulf cooperation in addressing shared challenges.

The president of the Saudi Club in Ireland, Abdulmalik Al-Funaikh, explained that the hackathon witnessed a high level of interaction and creativity, expressing his hope that this initiative would continue in the coming years. A high-level judging panel comprised of leading Saudi doctors and consultants oversaw the evaluation of the projects. At the conclusion of the competition, Team MedLink secured first place, followed by Team Najda in second, and Team Manhal in third. They were honored for their innovative ideas, which offered promising solutions to healthcare challenges during Hajj.
