Saudi passports authorities welcome Somali pilgrims in Medina
A warm welcome and comprehensive facilities for the guests of God
The General Directorate of Passports at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah welcomed the first flights of pilgrims arriving from the Federal Republic of Somalia to perform Hajj this year (1447 AH). Their entry procedures were completed smoothly and efficiently, thanks to a comprehensive system of services designed to provide the utmost comfort and peace of mind for pilgrims from the moment they arrive in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
General context and Saudi efforts in serving the Hajj
This reception is part of the massive efforts undertaken annually by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to organize the Hajj season, the world's largest religious gathering. Historically, the Kingdom has placed paramount importance on serving pilgrims and Umrah performers, stemming from its role as the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Recent decades have witnessed tremendous development in the infrastructure and logistical services provided to the guests of God, including airport expansions, the development of transportation networks, and the provision of cutting-edge technologies to ensure their safety and comfort.
The importance of the event and its expected impact
The Kingdom's success in facilitating the entry procedures for millions of pilgrims from around the world, including those from Somalia, has significant implications on several levels. Domestically, this success enhances the Kingdom's reputation as a leading nation in crowd management and efficient service delivery. Regionally, it strengthens the fraternal ties between the Kingdom and Somalia and leaves a positive impression on the pilgrims and their families. Internationally, this outstanding performance underscores the Kingdom's ability to organize a global event of this magnitude, reflecting a message of peace and hospitality to the entire Muslim world.
Modern technologies and qualified human resources
The General Directorate of Passports confirmed that it has mobilized all its human and technological resources at all international ports of entry (air, land, and sea) to serve the pilgrims. Passport control centers have been equipped with the latest technology to expedite procedures, and staffed with qualified personnel who speak multiple languages, including those of the arriving pilgrims, to facilitate communication and provide necessary assistance, ensuring a smooth and efficient arrival experience for all pilgrims.
