Saudi royal decrees: New appointments in investment, judiciary, and regions

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, issued today a package of royal orders that included important ministerial changes, appointments to senior leadership positions in the emirates of the regions, in addition to a restructuring in the judiciary and the Public Prosecution, as part of the ongoing effort to develop state agencies and inject new blood in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Strategic changes in the investment sector

The royal decrees included a pivotal decision in the economic sphere, relieving His Excellency Engineer Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih of his position as Minister of Investment and appointing him Minister of State and a member of the Council of Ministers. In his place, Mr. Fahd bin Abduljalil bin Ali Al-Saif was appointed Minister of Investment. This change comes at a time of significant economic activity in the Kingdom, with the Ministry of Investment serving as the primary driver for attracting foreign capital and enhancing the Kingdom's global competitiveness. The new minister is expected to build upon past achievements to further solidify Saudi Arabia's position as a leading global investment destination.

Strengthening leadership in the emirates of the regions and Diriyah

At the local government level, the royal decrees included notable appointments in several regional emirates, reflecting the leadership's commitment to developing administrative and developmental work throughout the Kingdom. His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud Al Saud was appointed Deputy Governor of the Madinah Region, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was appointed Deputy Governor of the Northern Borders Region, and His Highness Prince Fahd bin Saad bin Abdullah Al Saud was appointed Deputy Governor of the Al-Baha Region. Special attention was also given to the historic "Jewel of the Kingdom," with the appointment of His Royal Highness Prince Rakan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Governor of Diriyah at the rank of Minister. This appointment underscores the strategic and cultural importance of Diriyah as a global heritage destination within the ambitious Vision 2030 projects.

Restructuring of the judicial system and the public prosecution

In the context of developing the judicial system, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques issued a royal decree relieving His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Muajab, the Attorney General, of his post and appointing His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Yousef as Attorney General with the rank of Minister, after relieving him of his position as head of the Board of Grievances. This step aims to enhance the efficiency of the Public Prosecution and ensure the continued development of the judicial system in a way that achieves swift justice and reinforces the principles of transparency and integrity.

Empowering women leaders and national talents

Continuing the policy of empowering women in senior leadership positions, Her Royal Highness Princess Haifa bint Mohammed bin Saud Al Saud was appointed Advisor to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers with the rank of Minister, following her dismissal from the position of Deputy Minister of Tourism. The royal decrees also included the appointment of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Bandar bin Abdullah Al-Mishari Al Saud as Advisor to the Minister of Interior with the rank of Minister, and the appointment of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Saad bin Saud bin Mohammed Al Saud as a member of the Shura Council.

These royal decrees embody the wise leadership’s keenness on the continuous modernization of the state’s institutions, and the selection of national competencies capable of managing vital files in the next stage, whether on the economic, developmental, or judicial level, in a way that serves the interest of the nation and the citizen.
