Saudi Scouts in Ramadan: 600 volunteers to serve pilgrims

The Secretary-General of the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim Al-Mudaires, emphasized the pivotal and leading role played by national scouting personnel in enhancing the services provided to pilgrims during the holy month of Ramadan. Al-Mudaires commended the young scouts for their field contributions, which reflect the bright image of the people of this nation and their dedication to serving those visiting the Grand Mosque, during an inspection tour he conducted of the public service camp in Makkah for the Ramadan season of 1447 AH.

The importance of volunteer work during religious seasons

These efforts come within the context of a long history of service to the Two Holy Mosques by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The holy month of Ramadan is the peak season for Umrah pilgrimages, necessitating the combined efforts of all governmental and private entities. Scouts play a vital role in supporting security and service agencies, as the on-the-ground presence of volunteers helps alleviate pressure on central areas and provides a safe and spiritually enriching environment for pilgrims and worshippers. This reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to providing the utmost comfort for the guests of God.

600 scouts in the heart of the square

Dr. Al-Mudaires conducted a field visit to the sites designated for the scouting units, reviewing the operational plans implemented by the association. The tour included observing the volunteer work undertaken by more than 600 scouts and field leaders. These dedicated individuals play vital roles, including supporting the Special Forces for Hajj and Umrah Security in crowd management and providing on-site guidance to lost pilgrims, in close cooperation with the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. This ensures smooth traffic flow and enhances efficiency in the crowded central area.

Professional training and alignment with Vision 2030

The Director explained that the association has mobilized its human resources from various scouting sectors across the Kingdom, emphasizing that these efforts were not a coincidence, but rather the culmination of intensive qualification and training programs. These programs aim to instill values of discipline and responsibility in the participants and equip them with the necessary skills to manage large crowds according to the highest standards of quality and impact measurement. This strategic planning aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aspires to reach one million volunteers, promote a culture of volunteerism, and develop young leaders capable of assuming responsibility.

In closing, Dr. Al-Mudaires expressed his deepest gratitude to the wise leadership – may God support them – for their exceptional care and continuous attention to the pilgrims, and for providing all the necessary resources to serve them. He also commended the unlimited support and ongoing follow-up from His Excellency the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, Mr. Yousef Al-Bunyan, which has had a profound impact on developing scouting activities and enhancing its distinguished presence at major national and religious events, thus showcasing the civilized image of the Kingdom and its youth.
