Saudi Scouts: Field efforts to serve pilgrims in Mecca

The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association has achieved a remarkable qualitative leap in the level of field services it provides to pilgrims and visitors in Makkah, as part of its ongoing efforts to keep pace with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 , which pays great attention to developing volunteer work and raising the quality of services provided to visitors of the Two Holy Mosques.
An inspection tour to assess readiness
In this context, the Assistant Secretary-General for Technical Affairs of the Association, Dr. Majid Al-Manea, conducted a comprehensive field inspection of the Ramadan public service camp in the Holy City of Mecca. The visit aimed to closely assess the readiness of the volunteer and scouting personnel and to ensure that operations were proceeding according to the established plans to guarantee the comfort of pilgrims during the holy month.
The tour included direct and fruitful meetings with scout leaders and young volunteers spread throughout the courtyards of the Grand Mosque, where Dr. Al-Manea listened to a detailed explanation of the tasks they perform and the challenges they deal with with a high sense of responsibility.
A long history of field service
These efforts are a continuation of the long and distinguished history of Saudi scouts in serving pilgrims. Their role extends beyond mere on-the-spot organization; they are part of an integrated system working in harmony with other security and service agencies. The scouts' duties include crowd management during peak times, guiding lost pilgrims, and assisting the elderly and people with disabilities, directly contributing to the smooth flow of movement within the courtyards and pathways leading to the Grand Mosque in Mecca.
Precision in organization and crowd management
During his tour, Dr. Al-Manea was briefed on the organizational and guidance mechanisms implemented by the scouting units with precision and high professionalism. These efforts play a pivotal role in enriching the spiritual experience of pilgrims and facilitating their movement to perform their rituals with ease and convenience, reflecting the bright image of the Kingdom's youth in serving the guests of the Holy Mosque.
Promoting national belonging and the values of volunteering
The Assistant Secretary-General emphasized that these Ramadan camps transcend the traditional concept of service, becoming a vital educational and national platform. They contribute to instilling the values of volunteerism in young people, reinforce their sense of national belonging, and refine their leadership and social skills through direct interaction with audiences from diverse nationalities and cultures.
He pointed out that the field scene reflects a high sense of responsibility among the sons of the nation, and embodies the spirit of giving, which is a fundamental pillar in the mission of the global scouting movement, which is concerned with building the human being and developing his capabilities to be an active element in his society.
Integration with government sectors
Dr. Al-Manea revealed the association's ongoing efforts to broaden cooperation and integration with various governmental and private sectors operating within the Hajj and Umrah system. He concluded his visit by commending the exceptional efforts of field leaders, praising the unlimited support and continuous follow-up from the Minister of Education, Chairman of the Association's Board of Directors, to enhance the quality of services and fulfill the aspirations of the wise leadership in providing the best possible care for pilgrims to the Two Holy Mosques.
