Unified university admissions: Last chance to amend data before results are announced
The national platform for unified university admissions, known as "Qabool," closes today, Monday, the period for modifying personal profiles and academic data for high school graduates. This step is a crucial organizational measure aimed at ensuring the accuracy and validity of all registered information before the actual start of the competition and selection process for university places for the new academic year, marking a pivotal moment in the educational journey of thousands of students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The “Qubool” platform is one of the leading digital initiatives launched by the Saudi Ministry of Education as part of its efforts to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which focuses on developing and enhancing the efficiency of the education sector. Before the launch of this platform, students had to navigate a complex application process for each university individually, which consumed considerable time and effort and increased confusion and anxiety. Today, the platform has unified the application procedures under one electronic umbrella, making it easier for students to prioritize their preferences and track their applications with complete transparency, and promoting the principle of equal opportunities based on clear and specific academic criteria.
A crucial stage in the unified university admissions process
With the modification window now closed, the platform urged all applicants to thoroughly review their data, explaining that the available modifications included updating academic records and special exceptions to ensure the accuracy of information in subsequent stages. According to the approved schedule, June 9th was the deadline set by the National Center for Assessment (Qiyas) for taking the achievement test, a key component of the weighted score used to determine admission eligibility. This was followed by the automated recording of high school grades on June 26th and 27th, via a direct link with official sources at the Ministry of Education.
The period from June 12 to 14 will also see the announcement of admission results for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program for Overseas Studies, with candidates having the option to confirm their acceptance or withdraw. By June 28, a crucial phase will begin, extending until July 18, during which available opportunities will be displayed to students. Following this, real-time ranking processes will commence, and results will be continuously updated based on applicants' preferences and weighted scores.
Platform operating mechanism: Transparency and equal opportunities
The Qubool platform clarified that the presentation of potential admission opportunities will be based on minimum weighted scores, using indicators that indicate the likelihood of acceptance as either "high" or "low," to help students make informed decisions. At the same time, the platform cautioned that the list of available preferences and majors may change for applicants based on competition levels and dynamic supply and demand indicators. It confirmed that July 7th is the deadline for submitting applications for majors with specific requirements, such as personal interviews or entrance exams, before all seats are finalized on July 18th.
