Saudi Arabia weather: Rain and weather fluctuations at the start of the second semester

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly the Eastern Province, is experiencing unstable weather conditions coinciding with the start of the first week of the second semester. This weather pattern is characterized by significant temperature fluctuations and a chance of rain, necessitating caution from citizens and residents, especially students and parents, during the early morning hours.
Weather details for the Eastern Province
The National Center of Meteorology explained that the Eastern Province will experience several weather fluctuations in the coming days. These fluctuations will range from a noticeable drop in temperatures, especially during the night and early morning hours, to the possibility of scattered rainfall. These forecasts place the region under the influence of a distinctly wintry weather pattern, requiring residents to be well-prepared, particularly with the return to school and the heavy morning traffic.
The cold wave extends to the northern and central regions
The weather conditions are not limited to the Eastern Province but extend to large areas of the Kingdom. The meteorological report indicated that the weather will be noticeably cold during the night and early morning hours in the Al-Jawf, Northern Borders, Tabuk, Hail, and Al-Qassim regions. This drop in temperature will also affect the northern parts of the Riyadh and Eastern Provinces, starting from Tuesday until Thursday, reflecting the Kingdom's entry into the heart of winter weather.
Rainfall and active wind map
Regarding rainfall, the center indicated a chance of scattered showers on Sunday and Monday, affecting parts of Al-Jawf, Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province. Additionally, rainfall is expected to continue over the mountainous regions of Al-Baha, Asir, and Jazan until the end of the week, which will likely lead to increased flow in valleys and streams in those areas.
In addition to the rain, the center warned of active surface winds stirring up dust and sand, which may reduce horizontal visibility during daylight hours. This warning covers parts of Tabuk, Al-Jawf, the Northern Borders, Hail, Makkah, Madinah, Al-Qassim, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province from Sunday to Wednesday. The dust is expected to extend its impact on Thursday and Friday to include the southern parts of Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and the Najran region.
The importance of following weather forecasts for public safety
These warnings are particularly important given their timing with the return of students to schools, as weather conditions directly impact travel safety. Weather fluctuations in the Kingdom during this time of year are part of the region's climatic characteristics, where cold air masses interact with humid currents, resulting in unstable weather patterns.
The National Center for Meteorology called on everyone to follow the latest developments through its official website and social media accounts, in addition to using the “Anwaa” application, stressing the importance of adhering to the instructions of the concerned authorities in order to preserve public safety and avoid areas exposed to floods or heavy dust.
