Saudi Arabia weather today: Rain in Jazan and Al-Ahsa, and fog in the northern borders
The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued a series of urgent weather alerts on Tuesday regarding the weather conditions affecting several regions in the Kingdom, indicating weather fluctuations ranging from heavy rain to dense fog, which calls for caution and vigilance on the part of citizens and residents.
Rainfall conditions in the Jazan region
The report detailed the expected moderate to heavy rainfall in the Jazan region, accompanied by strong winds that could reduce horizontal visibility to near zero. The center warned of the associated hazards, including thunderstorms, flash floods in valleys and ravines, hail, and high waves along the coast.
This weather system affects the city of Jazan and several governorates, including: Ahad Al Masarihah, Abu Arish, Al Tuwal, Samtah, Damad, Sabya, Baysh, Al Darb, Al Harth, Al Dayer, Al Aridhah, Al Aydabi, Fayfa, Harub, and Al Reeth, extending to Farasan Island and the Al Fatihah center. The center indicated that this weather system will continue, God willing, until 8:00 PM this evening.
Rain in Al-Ahsa and the Northern Borders
Meanwhile, Al-Ahsa Governorate and its surrounding towns and villages in the Eastern Province experienced moderate to heavy rainfall this morning. The sky remains overcast, indicating the possibility of further rain in the coming hours. Moderate rain also fell on Tarif Governorate and its surrounding areas in the Northern Borders Region. May God make it a blessed and beneficial rain, spreading its benefits throughout the land.
Fog blankets Arar amid climate change
In a striking winter scene, thick fog blanketed the skies of Arar city in the Northern Borders region this morning, coinciding with a noticeable drop in temperature. These weather phenomena are typical of winter in the northern regions of the Kingdom, where the desert landscape takes on a unique beauty, but they also necessitate extreme caution from drivers on highways due to reduced visibility.
Climatic and geographical diversity in the Kingdom
These weather fluctuations reflect the great geographical and climatic diversity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. While southwestern regions like Jazan are affected by mountainous terrain and high humidity from the Red Sea, causing heavy rain and flash floods, the northern and eastern regions experience cold spells and fog due to the influence of cold air masses. This variation underscores the importance of continuously monitoring weather forecasts issued by official authorities.
The importance of warnings and safety procedures
Under these circumstances, the vital role of the National Center of Meteorology in monitoring weather changes using the latest technologies and satellites becomes evident, ensuring the safety of lives and property. The General Directorate of Civil Defense typically advises the public to stay away from valleys and flood channels, avoid crossing them, and adhere to safety instructions while driving in foggy or rainy conditions to prevent traffic accidents.
