Today's weather forecast: Lower temperatures, frost, and strong winds in Saudi Arabia

The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily report on weather conditions on Tuesday in various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting important weather changes that require attention, especially for drivers and highway users.

Lower temperatures and frost formation

The report indicated that the Kingdom is experiencing a noticeable drop in temperatures, consistent with the climatic characteristics of this time of year, as the northern and central regions are affected by cold air masses. Forecasts indicate fog formation and increased surface wind activity that may reduce horizontal visibility in parts of the Tabuk, Al-Jawf, Hail, and Northern Borders . This condition extends to the northern parts of the Qassim and Eastern regions.

In a related context, the center warned of the possibility of frost during the early morning hours, a phenomenon that is repeated in the desert and open areas north of the Kingdom as a result of radiative cooling at night, which requires taking precautions, especially for farmers and livestock breeders in those areas.

Rain in the south and partly cloudy

In contrast to the dry and cold conditions in the north, the weather forecast predicts partly to mostly cloudy skies over the southwestern highlands, with a chance of light rain and fog in parts of the Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha . This rainfall is typical of the highlands' climate, which has topographical features that contribute to the condensation of rain clouds.

State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf

Regarding sea conditions, the Red Sea northwesterly to northerly surface winds at speeds ranging from 20 to 40 km/h in its northern and central parts, while southeasterly to easterly winds prevail in the southern part. Wave heights are expected to reach up to two meters towards the Gulf of Aqaba and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, resulting in moderate sea conditions. Fishermen and other seafarers are advised to exercise caution.

In the Arabian Gulf , northwesterly winds are active at speeds of up to 45 km/h in the northern part, with wave heights ranging from half a meter to one and a half meters, and the sea state is light to moderate.
