Saudi Arabia weather: Active winds and temperature fluctuations expected next week

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will experience unstable weather conditions next week, with the National Center for Meteorology forecasting continued fluctuations characterized by strong surface winds and significant temperature variations. These forecasts come as several regions are experiencing scattered rainfall, necessitating caution and adherence to official weather reports.
Weather details and meteorological statements
In detailing the situation, Aqeel Al-Aqeel, a weather analyst at the National Center for Meteorology, explained that what the Kingdom is currently experiencing is an extension of weather fluctuations that began affecting the Kingdom in recent days. Weather stations recorded rainfall ranging from drizzle to moderate, accompanied by hail in specific locations, including the northeastern parts of Riyadh, areas of Qassim, eastern Mecca, and large parts of the Eastern Province.
Al-Aqeel pointed to the recorded rainfall amounts, noting that Jubail Governorate topped the list with approximately 9 mm of rain in the past 24 hours. Weather maps indicate continued chances of light and scattered rain over the next two days in the eastern parts of the Kingdom, the Qassim region, and northern Riyadh, amid partly cloudy skies.
Climate context and nature of fluctuations
Climatically, these fluctuations are a natural part of the weather patterns in the Arabian Peninsula during the transitional periods between seasons or during periods of winter low-pressure activity. These periods are typically characterized by rapid changes in atmospheric pressure systems, leading to temperature variations and increased wind activity. This atmospheric dynamic plays a vital role in replenishing groundwater reserves and moderating the climate, despite the dust storms that may accompany it.
Predictions for next week and their effects
Regarding the most prominent features of next week's weather, the center warned of significant surface wind activity that will stir up dust and sand across most regions of the Kingdom. Northern regions, particularly the Northern Borders and Al-Jawf areas, are expected to be affected by sandstorms that may reduce horizontal visibility, requiring drivers to exercise extreme caution on highways and open roads.
Regarding temperatures, significant fluctuations are expected, with both increases and decreases anticipated. However, forecasts rule out the possibility of severe cold waves like those previously experienced in the Kingdom. This weather pattern is of particular importance to farmers and livestock breeders, who must protect their crops and animals from the expected wind and dust. Those with respiratory conditions are also advised to avoid direct exposure to the anticipated dusty conditions.
