The Saudi Minister of Tourism, Mr. Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khatib, conducted a comprehensive inspection visit to the events and programs of the 2025/2026 Diriyah Season, reviewing the significant developments taking place at this historic destination, considered a jewel of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This visit reflects the government's ongoing commitment to monitoring major tourism projects, which are a cornerstone in achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
The historical and strategic importance of Diriyah
The significance of the Diriyah Season extends beyond its status as an entertainment event; it derives its value from the rich history of Diriyah, the capital of the first Saudi state and its birthplace. Diriyah is home to the historic At-Turaif district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it a symbol of national unity and deep historical roots. The development of Diriyah and the launch of its tourism seasons are integral to the National Tourism Strategy, which aims to attract 150 million visits annually by 2030 and boost the tourism sector's contribution to the GDP.
A journey into the heart of heritage: Are palaces and courtyards..
During his tour, the minister visited the "Hal Al-Qusour" program, a groundbreaking experience for visitors, where historical palaces open their doors to tell stories of a rich past through unique architectural designs that reflect the authentic Najdi identity. The visit also included the "Al-Huwait" program, which offers a live, interactive experience blending performances and traditional arts, giving tourists the opportunity to immerse themselves in the old social life of the people of Diriyah.
Diriyah Nights: A blend of tradition and modernity
Al-Khatib was briefed on the "Diriyah Nights" events, one of the season's most prominent tourist attractions, which combines the finest local and international culinary experiences with musical and cultural performances in a captivating winter atmosphere. This program reflects the Kingdom's ability to offer a modern tourism product while simultaneously preserving its cultural identity and long-standing Saudi traditions of hospitality.
Saudi winter and supporting national tourism
The tour concluded with a visit to the "Manzal" area, which celebrates handicrafts and storytelling. This visit is part of the "Saudi Winter" program, launched under the slogan "Winter Live," which aims to boost domestic tourism and attract international tourists to explore the diverse climate, geography, and culture that the Kingdom's various regions offer during the winter season.
