Saudi Arabia weather today: Rain in Jazan and snow in Targina, Tabuk
The National Center for Meteorology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued today important weather alerts regarding the expected weather conditions in several regions, most notably the Jazan and Tabuk regions, where the Kingdom is experiencing seasonal weather fluctuations ranging from rainfall to snowfall in the northern highlands.
Weather details in the Jazan region
The National Center for Meteorology issued a warning of light rain in the Jazan region, accompanied by active surface winds, which may reduce horizontal visibility, in addition to the possibility of thunderstorms. The warning included several mountainous and border governorates: Al-Harath, Al-Dayer Bani Malik, Al-Raith, Al-Ardah, Al-Aydabi, Fifa, and Haroub. The center indicated that this weather condition is expected to continue, God willing, until 8:00 PM this evening.
This situation is of particular importance given the rugged geographical nature of the mountainous Jazan governorates such as “Fifa” and “Haroub”, where driving in such weather requires extreme caution due to the turns and fog that may accompany the rain, reflecting the concern of the concerned authorities for the safety of citizens and residents.
Snow in Trogina and rain in Tabuk
In contrast, the northern regions of the Kingdom witnessed a remarkable winter scene, with the Taroujina highlands in the Tabuk region blanketed in snow on Wednesday, coinciding with light rainfall. The snowfall in Taroujina is a significant event of strategic and touristic importance, as the area lies within the massive NEOM project, which is being developed into a global destination for mountain tourism and skiing. It is also slated to host the Asian Winter Games in 2029, making these weather phenomena a testament to the region's natural potential.
The rainy conditions also extended to include light to moderate rainfall in other centers in the Tabuk region, including Bir Bin Hirmas, Al-Uyaynah, the border center of Halat Ammar, in addition to Shaqri and its suburbs.
General recommendations and warnings
In light of these weather fluctuations, the General Directorate of Civil Defense and the competent authorities usually call on everyone to be cautious and vigilant, to stay away from flood channels and valleys, especially in areas experiencing thunderstorms, and to adhere to safety instructions while driving on external roads and mountain slopes to ensure the safety of lives and property.
