Virtual Health Hospital: 365,000 beneficiaries in 2025
A quantum leap in digital healthcare
The Saudi Arabian Health Virtual Hospital (SEHA) achieved an exceptional leap and an unprecedented milestone in 2025, successfully providing its specialized medical services to over 365,000 beneficiaries across the Kingdom. This figure reflects a significant growth of 56% compared to previous periods, reinforcing Saudi Arabia's global leadership in the digital transformation of healthcare and underscoring the success of the Ministry of Health's strategies in adopting cutting-edge technologies to serve patients.
General context and historical background of the event
The Seha Virtual Hospital, launched by the Saudi Ministry of Health, is one of the most important national initiatives linked to the Health Sector Transformation Program within Saudi Vision 2030. Since its establishment, it has been ranked as the largest virtual hospital in the world and the first of its kind in the Middle East. The hospital aims to facilitate access to specialized medical care for citizens and residents in a timely manner, regardless of their geographical location, thus reducing the need for travel between cities to obtain accurate medical consultations and ensuring equitable distribution of healthcare services.
Field integration and advanced digital infrastructure
Recent digital indicators for 2025 show an unprecedented surge in the volume of specialized remote care. More than 220,000 medical cases were monitored through the hospital's system. In terms of field integration, the hospital successfully linked its vital services to more than 1,400 primary healthcare centers. This strategic technological integration encompassed 241 hospitals distributed across 18 health clusters throughout the Kingdom, directly contributing to the support of critical medical decisions. In a testament to the strength of its digital infrastructure, the average time for radiology reports was reduced to just 1.4 hours, which contributes to accelerating treatment plans and significantly improving patient outcomes.
Global leadership in crowd management and Hajj season
The hospital's global leadership was clearly demonstrated during the Hajj season of 1446 AH, when it provided exceptional care to more than 15,000 pilgrims. This digital system served as a vital support to field hospitals in the holy sites during periods of peak crowding, alleviating pressure on traditional facilities and providing rapid and precise medical intervention. This virtual medical complex covers 114 subspecialties and sub-specialties to meet all the healthcare needs of citizens and visitors.
Importance and expected impact locally and internationally
The impact of the virtual health hospital extends beyond the local level, reaching regionally and internationally, providing a model to be emulated in telemedicine and health crisis management. The hospital has crowned its achievements by completing two digital clinical studies that utilize advanced technology and artificial intelligence to enhance the quality of medical knowledge. This transformation not only increases the efficiency of healthcare spending but also ensures the sustainability and continuous improvement of healthcare services, positioning Saudi Arabia among the leading countries in exporting innovative digital healthcare solutions to the world.
