The efforts of the Two Holy Mosques Affairs to prepare 9,214 toilets for the pilgrims

The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques continues its tremendous operational efforts to serve pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors. In a remarkable achievement reflecting the scale of its care and attention, the Authority successfully reached exceptional figures within fifteen days, ensuring the highest standards of readiness and cleanliness. The total water consumption for operating 9,214 restrooms reached approximately 81,000 cubic meters, all aimed at providing a comprehensive, safe, and healthy environment for all visitors.

Historical context and sustained interest in the Two Holy Mosques

This achievement was not a sudden occurrence, but rather the culmination of a long history of exceptional care that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has bestowed upon the Two Holy Mosques since the era of its founder, King Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God have mercy on him – up to the present prosperous era. The Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina have witnessed a series of historic expansions, the largest in the history of Islam. These massive operational efforts today align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 , which aims to facilitate the hosting of 30 million Umrah pilgrims annually and provide them with the highest quality services so they can perform their rituals with ease and tranquility.

Record numbers in cleanliness and fragrance

As part of its ongoing efforts to maintain service facilities and enhance the quality of the indoor environment, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques implemented meticulous field plans. Field teams used 19,123 liters of environmentally friendly cleaning and sanitizing materials. To create a comfortable and spiritually uplifting atmosphere, 362 fragrance diffusers were distributed throughout the restrooms, consuming approximately 700 liters of premium fragrances during the same period, thus enhancing the comfort of visitors and ensuring an exceptional experience.

Daily operational performance indicators

The system's operational indicators revealed a high level of precision and professionalism in fieldwork, with 180 comprehensive washing operations and 150 quick cleaning wipes performed. To put these impressive figures into perspective, the daily averages are approximately 5,400 cubic meters of water and 1,275 liters of cleaning materials. In addition, 12 washings and 10 wipes are conducted daily, and 47 liters of fragrance are consumed daily to ensure the facilities remain constantly clean and ready.

An integrated human system to serve visitors

To accomplish these enormous tasks around the clock, the Authority has mobilized a trained and qualified workforce of 890 employees to manage the system. The team includes 16 service providers (12 men and 4 women), 73 supervisors, and 801 workers. This meticulous distribution of personnel reflects the scale of the tireless fieldwork aimed at creating a spiritually enriching environment where visitors can perform their religious rites with ease and complete peace of mind.

Local, regional and international impact

These monumental efforts have far-reaching dimensions and impacts. Locally , these operations contribute to job creation and the development of national talent in crowd management and large-scale facilities, underscoring the success of the Kingdom's plans for managing religious seasons. Regionally and internationally , the Kingdom sends a reassuring message to millions of Muslims worldwide that their holy sites are in safe hands, and that the infrastructure and services at the Two Holy Mosques are capable of accommodating millions of visitors and providing services that exceed expectations, thus reinforcing the Kingdom's position as the beating heart of the Islamic world.
