Al-Falih in the Shura Council: Discussing the performance of the Ministry of Investment and its future plans

In a move reflecting the Shura Council's growing oversight role and its integration with the state's executive bodies, His Excellency the Minister of Investment, Engineer Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, will attend the fifteenth regular session of the Shura Council during the second year of its ninth term, scheduled for Monday, 16 Rajab 1447 AH. This session is of particular importance given the Ministry of Investment's pivotal role in achieving the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

During the session, His Excellency is scheduled to present a detailed and comprehensive overview of the Ministry of Investment's strategic plans and programs, showcasing figures and indicators that reflect the achievement of the National Investment Strategy's objectives. The presentation will address efforts to improve the business environment, attract foreign direct investment, and empower local investments, in addition to discussing the Ministry's overall performance and outlining its ambitious future plans to enhance the Kingdom's position as a global investment destination.

This meeting comes amidst the significant economic activity underway in the Kingdom, where the Ministry of Investment plays a pivotal role in diversifying national income sources and reducing reliance on oil. During the session, members of the Shura Council will focus on raising a number of key inquiries and interventions related to the Ministry's responsibilities, addressing the challenges that investors may face and proposing solutions to overcome obstacles. This falls within the Council's oversight role of government agencies, aiming to support development and enhance the level of services provided to beneficiaries, in line with the directives of the wise leadership – may God protect them.

The Minister of Investment's attendance is based on Article 22 of the Shura Council Law, which governs the relationship between the Council and government officials. This article stipulates that "the Speaker of the Shura Council shall submit a request to the Prime Minister for any government official to attend Shura Council sessions if the Council is discussing matters related to that official's jurisdiction. The official has the right to participate in the discussion but not to vote." This legal procedure underscores the principles of transparency and constructive accountability that the Kingdom adopts in managing its development initiatives.

In order to enhance community participation and ensure citizens' voices are heard by decision-makers, the Council welcomes citizens' proposals and inquiries that they wish to present to His Excellency the Minister of Investment. Interested parties, specialists, and citizens can submit their contributions through official channels, including the Council's website: shura.gov.sa or the dedicated email address: contact@shura.gov.sa , thus providing a genuine opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of investment in the Kingdom.
