Officially: Aramco launches 98 octane gasoline at a price of 2.88 riyals in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Aramco, the global energy giant, announced a new step to enhance consumer choice in the Kingdom, officially launching its new "98 octane gasoline" product in the local market at the beginning of January 2026. The price of this product, designed for high-performance vehicles, was set at SAR 2.88 per liter, a price that includes VAT, reflecting the company's commitment to providing diverse energy products that meet various needs.
Extensive distribution network and strategic coverage
To ensure the new product reaches its target audience efficiently, Aramco launched the service through a wide network of approximately 130 eligible fuel stations. These stations were carefully selected to cover major cities and vital hubs, with initial coverage including the three main cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. The service extends beyond city limits to include key highways and regional roads connecting the Kingdom's regions, most notably the Riyadh-Jeddah and Jeddah-Riyadh highways, as well as the Riyadh-Dammam and Dammam-Riyadh highways in both directions.
What is 98 octane gasoline and who is it intended for?
The introduction of 98-octane gasoline is a valuable addition to the Kingdom's fuel product range (along with 91 and 95-octane gasoline). This type boasts a high octane rating, making it the ideal choice for sports cars and luxury vehicles with high-performance, high-compression engines. This fuel helps improve engine combustion efficiency, reduces carbon deposits, and prevents knocking or rattling inside the engine, thus extending vehicle life and maintaining its power and torque, which aligns with the precise technical specifications of modern imported cars.
Timing implications and economic importance
This launch reflects a significant development in the transportation and energy sector within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and comes in response to the growing market for luxury and sports cars in the region. This product expansion also underscores the capacity of the Kingdom's fuel station infrastructure, operated by leading and qualified companies, to accommodate new products and provide world-class services to travelers and international road users. This step is part of Aramco's ongoing strategy to enhance the added value of the Kingdom's hydrocarbon resources and provide integrated energy solutions to the end consumer.
