Historical context and importance of organizing the Hajj

Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam, is an obligation for every able-bodied adult Muslim and represents the largest annual religious gathering in the world. Since its founding, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has held the honor of serving the Two Holy Mosques and organizing Hajj affairs, a tremendous historical and religious responsibility. The Kingdom mobilizes all its governmental and private sectors to ensure the safety and comfort of millions of pilgrims, providing a comprehensive infrastructure that includes transportation, accommodation, healthcare, and security, in addition to digital services that have become vital in crowd management and facilitating the performance of the rituals.

stc's role in supporting the digital infrastructure for Hajj

For his part, Engineer Alian Al-Wutaid stated: “I extend my sincere congratulations to the wise leadership on the outstanding success of the 1447 AH Hajj season. Our commitment at stc Group is embodied in providing a smart and integrated digital system that enables pilgrims to perform their rituals with ease and convenience.” He explained that this success is the result of the leadership’s continuous support for developing the digital infrastructure, which has enabled the Group to serve millions of pilgrims annually through its 4G and 5G networks, which were enhanced in Makkah and the Holy Sites to meet the high demand during peak times.

During the season, stc operated a wide network of indoor and outdoor coverage sites and deployed a large number of Wi-Fi network access points to ensure the continuity of digital services and improve the experience of pilgrims, whether in communicating with their families or using various service applications.

The local and international impact of a successful Hajj season

The success of the Hajj season has far-reaching implications, extending beyond the religious and logistical aspects to encompass numerous other dimensions. Domestically, it reinforces the Kingdom's standing as a nation capable of efficiently and effectively managing the largest human gatherings, while simultaneously bolstering the local economy. Internationally, it solidifies the Kingdom's image as a leader of the Islamic world and reflects its commitment to serving Muslims and facilitating their religious rites, a cornerstone of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to enhance the Hajj and Umrah experience and elevate the quality of services provided to pilgrims.
