As part of the extensive preparations undertaken by the Saudi Arabian government to serve pilgrims, the Ministry of Commerce announced record-breaking figures in the volume of food supplies. Since the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah, more than 243 million essential food items have been supplied to markets and retail outlets in Mecca and the Holy Sites. This strategic initiative aims to ensure that all pilgrims' needs are met and to provide them with a comfortable and safe environment to perform their rituals with ease, with a focus on vital commodities such as bread, bottled water, dairy products, soft drinks, and ice.

To ensure the comfort of pilgrims amidst the ongoing weather and movement, the Ministry of Commerce focused on providing essential goods. Supplies distributed to retail outlets included approximately 31.3 million loaves of bread and over 121.6 million bottles of drinking water, a crucial element for maintaining pilgrims' health and protecting them from heat stress. In addition, more than 82.2 million packages of milk, juices, and soft drinks were made available, while over 7.9 million blocks of ice were supplied to provide the necessary cooling for food and beverages in various camps and facilities.

Abundant daily production and continuous monitoring

To maintain this supply momentum, the average daily production allocated to Mecca and the holy sites exceeds 8.8 million loaves of bread, 32.6 million bottles of water, and 24.7 million packages of milk and juice, in addition to more than 2.2 million ice blocks daily. The Ministry has not only supplied these enormous quantities but has also affirmed the continuation of intensive monitoring and oversight of all markets and retail outlets. This rigorous measure aims to ensure the availability of essential goods and products, prevent any price manipulation, and enhance the readiness of services provided to pilgrims performing Hajj.
