Launch of the project to provide water to pilgrims in Mecca and Medina for the Hajj season

The Namaa Endowment Fund announced the launch of a pioneering humanitarian initiative: a project to provide water to pilgrims in both Mecca and Medina, coinciding with preparations for the 1447 AH Hajj season. The Fund extended an open invitation to business leaders, philanthropists, and all members of society to support this noble charitable project. This invitation aims to encourage Muslims to seize the opportunity for reward and blessings, especially with the arrival of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, which are considered among the best days for good deeds and contributing to the consolidation of the values of giving and social solidarity, leaving a lasting positive impact for generations to come.

Historical background: The honor of providing water to pilgrims throughout the ages

Providing water to pilgrims is considered one of the greatest and most honorable professions in the history of Mecca and the Arabian Peninsula. Since pre-Islamic times, Arab tribes have inherited the honor of providing water and sustenance to pilgrims to the Sacred House of God. With the advent of Islam, this humanitarian and religious value was reinforced, becoming one of the greatest acts of devotion to God. In modern times, since its founding, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has given great attention to providing pure and chilled water to pilgrims, from projects to maintain and expand the Zamzam Well to the establishment of massive desalination plants and the distribution of millions of chilled bottles in the holy sites. This reflects the wise leadership's commitment to serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors and providing them with the utmost comfort.

The health and environmental importance of the project and its expected impact

The Water Project for Pilgrims aims primarily to provide clean, chilled drinking water to pilgrims as they move between the holy sites and within the courtyards of the Two Holy Mosques. The project's paramount importance lies in mitigating heat stress and sunstroke, especially given the high temperatures during Hajj season. Providing water has not only a local and health impact, but also a regional and international one, ensuring the safety and well-being of millions of pilgrims from around the world. This enables them to perform their rituals with ease and peace of mind, and reflects the Kingdom's remarkable organizational and humanitarian efforts in managing such massive crowds.

Integration with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Ihsan platform

The Namaa Endowment Fund explained that the water distribution project is part of a package of development and endowment initiatives aimed at enhancing the sustainability of community impact and supporting projects with ongoing charitable returns. These initiatives are an extension of the joint cooperation agreement previously signed by the program with the national platform for charitable work, "Ihsan." This strategic partnership aims to govern and regulate humanitarian work and facilitate the delivery of donations to those in need with high transparency and reliability. It also seeks to achieve a sustainable environmental and financial impact that is fully aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which gives significant attention to the non-profit sector to increase its contribution to the GDP and promote a culture of volunteerism and endowment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
