The governor of Taif inspects the Al-Sail Al-Kabir Miqat and Wadi Mahram before Ramadan

As part of the extensive preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Taif, conducted a comprehensive inspection tour that included the Al-Sayl Al-Kabir (Qarn Al-Manazil) Miqat and the Wadi Mahram Miqat and Mosque. This tour aimed to assess the readiness of facilities and services provided to pilgrims and ensure the utmost comfort for those arriving from across the Kingdom and around the world.

The importance of the two miqats and their historical and geographical significance

The Al-Sayl Al-Kabir Miqat (Qarn Al-Manazil) holds immense strategic and historical importance, serving as the primary Miqat for the people of Najd, the Eastern Province, and the Gulf States, as well as pilgrims and Umrah performers arriving from the east. The Wadi Mahram Miqat, located adjacent to Qarn Al-Manazil, serves those arriving via the mountainous Al-Hada Road. Given their position as the eastern gateway to the Holy City of Mecca, these two locations experience tremendous crowd density, particularly with the approach of Ramadan, the peak of the annual Umrah season. This makes operational readiness at these sites crucial for the success of crowd management plans.

Details of the inspection tour and operational plans

During his tour, His Highness the Governor of Taif reviewed the operational and organizational plans developed by the relevant authorities. The tour included an inspection of the integrated services system, which comprises:

  • Logistics and facilities: Ensuring the efficiency of air conditioning systems, lighting, restrooms, and bus and car parking to guarantee smooth traffic flow.
  • Development and restoration works: His Highness inspected the stages of restoration and rehabilitation of the old Miqat Mosque in Wadi Mahram, directing that the work be completed quickly according to the highest technical and engineering standards in a way that preserves the identity of the place and serves the worshippers.
  • Awareness and health services: Reviewing health screening points and guidance centers that contribute to guiding pilgrims and facilitating the performance of their rituals.

Governmental integration to serve the guests of God

At the conclusion of the tour, Prince Saud bin Nahar emphasized the necessity of integrated efforts among all governmental, service, and security sectors. He affirmed that these preparations are in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership – may God support them – which gives utmost care to the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors. He pointed out that the ultimate goal is to provide high-quality services befitting the pilgrims and to facilitate their spiritual journey from their arrival in Taif Governorate until their departure to the Grand Mosque, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to enrich the experience of Umrah pilgrims and visitors.
