The crescent moon of Shawwal was not sighted. Tomorrow, Thursday, will be the last day of Ramadan, and Friday will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr
The Royal Court announced that the Supreme Court has decided that tomorrow, Thursday, will be the last day of the blessed month of Ramadan, and that Friday will be the first day of Shawwal and Eid al-Fitr, after the crescent moon was not sighted.
The following statement was issued by the Royal Court today:
“Statement from the Royal Court”
The following has been received from the Supreme Court:
Decision No. (205/H) dated 29/9/1447 AH.
Praise be to God alone, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and companions. The Crescent Sighting Committee of the Supreme Court held a session this evening, Wednesday, the twenty-ninth of the blessed month of Ramadan, 1447 AH – according to the Umm al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 18/3/2026 CE; To consider what has been reported to it regarding the sighting of the crescent of the month of Shawwal for this year 1447 AH, and after reviewing all that has been reported to it, considering it and reflecting upon it, and in view of what was included in the decision of the Supreme Court No. (204/H) dated 29/8/1447 AH that Wednesday 1/9/1447 AH corresponding to 18/2/2026 AD is the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH, and in view of the lack of proof of sighting the crescent of the month of Shawwal on the evening of this day, and in view of the saying of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace: “If it is obscured from you, then complete the count to thirty,” agreed upon and the wording is for Al-Bukhari; The court has decided that tomorrow, Thursday, September 30, 1447 AH (according to the Umm al-Qura calendar), corresponding to March 19, 2026 CE, will be the thirtieth day of the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH, and that Friday, October 1, 1447 AH (according to the Umm al-Qura calendar), corresponding to March 20, 2026 CE, will be the day of Eid al-Fitr for this year, 1447 AH.
The Supreme Court extends its congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince (may God protect them), all citizens and residents, and all Muslims on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. It asks God Almighty to accept the fasting, prayers, and all good deeds of the Muslims, to reconcile their differences, to grant victory to His religion and exalt His word, and to preserve the security, stability, and prosperity of this country. He is the All-Hearing, the Ever-Near, the One Who Answers prayers and peace. May God’s peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all his companions.
The Crescent Sighting Department of the Supreme Court
. The Supreme Court had called upon all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to look for the crescent of the month of Shawwal on the evening of Wednesday, the twenty-ninth of Ramadan of this year 1447 AH - according to the Umm al-Qura calendar - corresponding to 18/3/2026 AD.
