
The Gulf Cup football tournament has been postponed until further notice
The organizing committee of the Gulf Cup Mini-Football Championship announced the postponement of the first edition of the tournament, which was scheduled to be hosted by the Qatari capital, Doha, from April 1 to 5, due to the current situation in the region.
She explained that the decision to postpone comes after she had previously announced the postponement of the tournament draw ceremony, as part of her keenness to provide the appropriate conditions for holding the event in a manner befitting the tournament and its status, and to ensure the best organizational and media aspects for the participants and fans.
The Director General of the Organizing Committee for the Championship, Mohammed Mubarak Al-Muhannadi, confirmed that the decision comes as a precautionary measure in light of the current developments, noting that the safety of the participating delegations and creating the appropriate atmosphere for holding the championship remains at the top of the priorities of the Organizing Committee.
He stated that the organizing committee will work in coordination with the relevant authorities and the International Minifootball Federation (IMF) to determine a new date for the tournament, which will be announced later after the situation stabilizes.
The first edition of the tournament was expected to witness the participation of teams from the Gulf Arab states, in a sporting event aimed at strengthening sports cooperation between the Gulf states and supporting the spread of mini-football at the regional level.
