The Roads Authority confirms the readiness of the road network to serve citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries

The General Authority for Roads has confirmed the readiness of the road network in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance regional connectivity and provide a safe and comfortable travel experience for all.
These efforts underscore the Kingdom's leading global position in the Road and its commitment to delivering the highest levels of quality and safety on its road network.

Road infrastructure development

The Roads Authority explained that the Kingdom's road infrastructure is undergoing significant development, with the road network extending over 73,000 kilometers, placing the Kingdom first globally in the road connectivity index.
This reflects the ambitious strategy aimed at developing a road network that connects the various regions of the Kingdom and neighboring countries, facilitating trade, tourism, and travel between these nations.
To ensure the continued quality and safety of the roads, the Authority emphasized that road inspectors work around the clock, playing a vital role through regular road surveys, quality control inspections, and immediate response to emergencies.

He explained that the continuous field presence ensures a rapid response to any challenges road users may face and maintains smooth traffic flow. This is complemented by the 938 call center, which operates around the clock to receive feedback and suggestions from road users outside urban areas.
The center aims to process reports quickly and efficiently, ensuring continuous improvement of road services.

Raising the level of safety and readiness

The Authority highlighted the extensive services available on the road network to meet travelers' needs, including fuel stations, rest areas, emergency maintenance services, and clear signage that ensures easy navigation.
This network also contributes to supporting economic and commercial activities and strengthening social and cultural ties among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The Authority affirmed that these efforts will contribute to raising the level of safety and readiness on the road network and achieving the goals of the Roads Sector Program, which aim to reach sixth place globally in the road quality index, reduce road fatalities to less than 5 per 100,000 inhabitants, and ensure the road network meets traffic safety standards according to the International Road Assessment Program (iRAP).
This is in addition to maintaining a high level of service that meets the capacity of the road network, as these efforts are part of strengthening the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub.
