The weather conditions are ideal... Learn the details of the weather forecast for sighting the Eid crescent moon

Astronomer Abdullah Al-Khudairi confirmed that the astronomical conditions on Wednesday evening, the 29th of Ramadan, do not allow for the sighting of the crescent moon of Shawwal. He explained that the moon will set approximately 30 minutes before the sun, making it impossible to observe.
Al-Khudairi clarified that the conjunction will occur – God willing – at dawn on Thursday at 4:26 AM, which astronomically means the crescent will not be visible on the evening of the observation.
He added that the crescent will remain visible for about 30 minutes after sunset on Thursday evening – corresponding to the 30th of Ramadan according to the Umm al-Qura calendar – a duration that might allow for observation if the skies are clear. It will be more visible and higher in the sky on Friday evening, as the moon will be more than 48 hours old since the conjunction, making it clearly visible.
He noted that the weather at the observation site is characterized by light cloud cover, with inactive winds reaching speeds of about 21 km/h, and low humidity estimated at about 14%. He emphasized that the most important factor for the possibility of sighting the crescent is the moon remaining visible after sunset.
Al-Khudairi stressed that the task of the observers and observatories is limited to monitoring and transmitting testimonies, while the determination of the beginning of the month of Shawwal or the completion of the number of Ramadan is up to the Supreme Court, according to what it receives from the approved legitimate sighting testimonies.
