The event was held at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Tennis Complex and featured artistic and cultural performances that reflected the shared Gulf heritage and the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation among the region's countries. The event's theme was "Our Gulf is One... Our Destiny is One," embodied in a unique artistic operetta that showcased the region's history and future aspirations, emphasizing the deep bonds uniting the people of the Gulf.

Historical context and importance of the Gulf Games

The Gulf Games is a major regional sporting event held every four years, aiming to foster camaraderie and fair competition among the youth of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The inaugural edition was held in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2011, followed by the second edition hosted by Dammam, Saudi Arabia in 2015. The third edition, held in Kuwait, continues the tradition of this event, which has become a key platform for Gulf athletes to showcase their talents and prepare for larger continental and international competitions such as the Asian Games and the Olympic Games.

Expected impact and dimensions of the sporting event

Hosting such events is of paramount importance at both the local and regional levels. Locally, the tournament contributes to the development of the host country's sports infrastructure and stimulates both sports and tourism. Regionally, it serves as an effective tool for promoting sports diplomacy and strengthening relations between member nations, while also opening new avenues for cooperation in sports training and development. Furthermore, the tournament provides athletes with an opportunity to gain experience and compete against their peers, thereby enhancing their technical skills and enabling them to achieve greater success on the international stage.

Extensive Saudi participation in the competitions

The Saudi national teams are entering the competitions with full force, participating in numerous sports. Saudi Arabia is scheduled to compete in taekwondo, 3x3 basketball, swimming, bowling, table tennis, and billiards and snooker. At the opening ceremony, Saudi fencer Nada Abed and taekwondo athlete Riyadh Humaidi proudly carried the Kingdom's flag, a gesture reflecting appreciation for both athletes. The Saudi taekwondo team will begin its campaign with tough matches, while the billiards team will compete in the 10-ball singles event, and the bowling team will participate in the singles competition. This promises exciting competitions as the Saudi delegation strives to achieve top results and win medals.
