Sources within the U.S. Secret Service have revealed the identity of the gunman who opened fire near the White House in Washington.
The Secret Service has identified the suspect as 21-year-old Nasser Best, according to a source familiar with the investigation who spoke to CBS News.
The source said the Secret Service had previously arrested Best in July 2025 after he attempted to enter the White House, and he was subsequently sent to a psychiatric ward due to mental health issues.
