The Minister of Transport directs the intensification of performance and the implementation of passenger regulations at King Khalid Airport
His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistics, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, conducted a field inspection tour today at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, to review the progress of operational processes and travel traffic, as part of the ongoing follow-up to raise the efficiency of performance at the Kingdom’s air gateways.
His Excellency was accompanied on the inspection tour by His Excellency the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailij, the CEO of Airports Holding Company, Engineer Raed Al-Idrisi, the CEO of Riyadh Airports Company, Mr. Ayman Abu Abah, and a number of other airport executives. The tour included an inspection of the airport's various facilities and a review of the procedures in place to ensure the smooth flow of passengers in the terminals, especially during peak hours.
During his visit to the operations center, Engineer Al-Jasser listened to a detailed technical presentation by the CEO of Airports Holding Company, which covered operational performance indicators, flight punctuality rates, and plans for addressing any unforeseen operational challenges. His Excellency the Minister directed that efforts be intensified to raise performance levels, with a primary focus on enhancing the passenger experience and facilitating travel in accordance with the highest international standards of quality and safety.
In his directives, Al-Jasser stressed the importance of the strict application of the “Passenger Protection Regulations,” which guarantee the rights of passengers and provide them with the necessary care in the event of flight delays or cancellations, emphasizing the need to conduct periodic and continuous reviews to ensure the sustainability of operational discipline in various climatic and operational conditions.
This visit comes in the context of the great movement witnessed by the air transport sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy stemming from the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The Kingdom seeks to be a global logistics hub linking the three continents, and the strategy aims to increase the capacity of airports to reach more than 330 million passengers annually by 2030, in addition to raising the level of air connectivity to reach 250 international destinations.
King Khalid International Airport holds immense strategic importance as the air gateway to Riyadh, the capital city, and a vital artery for travel, tourism, and business in the region. The airport has recently undergone significant upgrades to its infrastructure and digital services, enhancing its capacity to accommodate the growing number of passengers and reinforcing Riyadh's position as a leading economic and tourist destination in the Middle East.
