Vehicle sales terms via Absher 2024 and the license plate wallet service
The Saudi Ministry of Interior, through its "Absher" e-platform, continues its efforts to enhance digital transformation and streamline government procedures for citizens and residents. In this context, the platform has clarified the updated mechanisms and precise requirements for completing vehicle sales electronically. This step aims to save time and effort, and ensure the reliability of financial and legal transactions between buyers and sellers, eliminating the need to visit car dealerships or traffic departments in the initial stages.
Conditions for selling vehicles via Absher
To ensure the successful and secure transfer of ownership, the Absher platform has identified 6 essential conditions that must be met, which are as follows:
- Registration on the platform: Both the seller and the buyer must be registered and have activated their accounts on the Absher platform.
- Validity of documents: The vehicle registration (form) must be valid, in addition to a valid periodic vehicle inspection and an effective insurance policy.
- Payment of fees: Payment of the government fees stipulated for the sale process, amounting to 150 Saudi Riyals, which are paid through approved banking channels.
- The record must be free of violations: There must be no traffic violations registered against the buyer or the vehicle to be sold to ensure the smooth flow of procedures.
- Vehicle status: The vehicle must be in good condition in the system, meaning it is not stopped, lost, wanted, or impounded for any legal or security reason.
- Vehicle type: The electronic sale service is limited to specific types; it includes (private, private transport, motorcycles) for citizens, while it is limited to (private and motorcycles) for residents.
Launch of the digital vehicle license plate portfolio

This digital wallet allows users to keep the plates purchased from electronic auctions, transfer the plates between their private vehicles, or even store them in the wallet until needed for later use, thus enhancing the value of the beneficiaries’ digital assets and facilitating their management entirely electronically.
Key services of the digital wallet
