Exceptional success in managing water resources for pilgrims

In a remarkable achievement reflecting the advanced state of Saudi Arabia's infrastructure, the National Water Company announced the successful completion of its operational plan for the first phase of this year's Hajj season (1447 AH) in Madinah. This success was demonstrated by the distribution and pumping of over 22.4 million cubic meters of water to serve pilgrims and visitors, ensuring that all their needs were met with ease and convenience throughout their stay in the city of the Prophet.

Historical context: From traditional irrigation to the latest technologies

Historically, serving pilgrims to the Holy Mosque in Mecca and visitors to the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, particularly in providing water (known as "Saqaya"), has been considered one of the greatest honors and challenges facing those responsible for serving the Two Holy Mosques. In the past, Medina relied on historical wells and springs for its water supply. However, with the steadily increasing number of pilgrims annually, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia undertook the development of a massive water infrastructure. Today, the Kingdom relies on some of the world's largest desalination plants and advanced strategic water distribution networks, reflecting a historical and religious commitment, ongoing since the founding of the state, to providing the utmost comfort and safety for those visiting the Two Holy Mosques.

Figures and statistics reflect the scale of the achievement

The company explained that its operational plan included the continuous and safe pumping of water around the clock to the Prophet's Mosque and other religious and historical sites. The average daily distribution exceeded 623,600 cubic meters. To ensure the highest quality standards, 31,100 rigorous laboratory tests were conducted to verify the water's safety and compliance with internationally recognized environmental and health standards.

The operational plan also included the participation of 1203 employees from the technical, engineering and administrative staff, supported by field maintenance teams fully equipped with the latest equipment and machinery to handle and deal with all emergency reports with high efficiency and speed.

Smart technology and improving system efficiency

Technology played a pivotal role in this success, with the smart digital operating system contributing to the stability of water supplies by monitoring flow and quality in real time. This technological approach ensures the continuity of service at the required level and enhances the efficiency of field operations. Furthermore, preparations included the implementation of a package of supporting projects at a total cost exceeding 137.45 million riyals, aimed at extending strategic networks and transmission lines to accommodate the increasing number of visitors to Medina and vital sites.

Importance and impact: locally, regionally, and internationally

Locally Regionally, this water stability ensures the comfort of Medina's residents and visitors, preventing any water shortages or outages during peak seasonal periods. and internationally, the Kingdom's success in managing these millions of pilgrims and providing them with essential services with high efficiency reinforces its leading global position in crowd management and infrastructure development. This success sends a reassuring message to millions of Muslims worldwide that their spiritual journey is accompanied by exceptional care and attention.

conclusion

In conclusion, the National Water Company affirmed that this success is the result of the combined efforts of all relevant sectors and departments, and the meticulous planning and preparation of strategic plans.
