The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia has revealed details of the expected weather conditions for Wednesday, which coincides with the first day of Ramadan, indicating fluctuating weather patterns across several regions of the Kingdom. This report comes as those observing the fast await the weather conditions that will accompany the start of the holy month, given their direct impact on travel and the performance of religious rites.
Weather details for the first days of Ramadan
The center explained in its report that there is still a chance of light rain in the northern parts of the Kingdom, promising relatively pleasant weather in those areas. Conversely, the report warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to fog formation during the night and early morning hours in parts of the northern regions, as well as the Eastern Province, urging drivers on highways to exercise caution.
Wind and dust activity
Regarding wind patterns, the report indicated the continued impact of active winds stirring up dust and sand, which may reduce horizontal visibility in several vital areas. This includes parts of the Northern Borders, Al-Jawf, Tabuk, Hail, and Madinah regions. The dust also extends to the eastern parts of the Makkah region, reaching as far as parts of the Qassim, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, requiring those with respiratory conditions to take necessary precautions when going outside.
State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf
Regarding the Red Sea, the center explained that surface winds will be northwesterly to northerly at speeds ranging from 20 to 40 km/h in the northern and central parts, while they will be southeasterly to southwesterly in the southern part. Wave heights will range from one to two meters in the north and central regions, and from half a meter to one and a half meters in the south, resulting in calm to moderate sea conditions.
In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds are southwesterly to southeasterly at a speed of 10-25 km/h, with wave heights ranging from half a meter to a meter, and a light sea state, making the marine atmosphere relatively stable for fishermen and picnickers.
