Today's weather: Dust and rain in the Eastern Province and Riyadh

The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily report on weather conditions for today, Thursday, across the various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, indicating the continuation of weather fluctuations characterized by active surface winds and reduced horizontal visibility in several vital areas.
Weather conditions and active winds details
The report indicated that the impact of active winds stirring up dust and sand continues, leading to near-zero horizontal visibility in parts of the Eastern Province and Riyadh . These weather phenomena are considered part of the Kingdom's climatic pattern, especially in open and desert areas that are quickly affected by changes in atmospheric pressure and the movement of air masses, thus requiring drivers on highways to exercise caution.
Special alerts for the Eastern Province
In a related development, the center issued a special alert for the Eastern Province regarding blowing dust. The alert covered the governorates of Hafr Al-Batin, Al-Khafji, Al-Nairiyah, and Qaryat Al-Ulya . According to the report, this condition will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until 3:00 PM, accompanied by strong winds and a decrease in horizontal visibility to between 3 and 5 kilometers. Due to its geographical location, the Eastern Province is prone to such dust storms, which directly affect daily activities and land navigation.
chances of rainfall
On another note, the weather report did not rule out the formation of thunderstorms, predicting light rain over parts of the western and southwestern highlands of the Kingdom. The chance of rain also extends to the northern parts of the Eastern Province, promising relatively pleasant weather following the dust storms—a common weather pattern that contributes to milder conditions and lower temperatures.
State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf
Regarding the sea conditions, the report indicated that the surface wind movement on the Red Sea will be northwesterly to northerly on the northern and central parts, and southeasterly to southwesterly on the southern part at a speed ranging between 15-30 km/h, with wave heights from half a meter to one and a half meters, so that the sea condition will be light to moderate waves.
In the Arabian Gulf , surface winds will be southeasterly to southerly at speeds of 15-36 km/h, with similar wave heights and a slight to moderate sea state. Monitoring sea conditions is vital for fishermen and other seafarers to ensure their safety and avoid potential hazards due to wind fluctuations.
The importance of following weather forecasts
These reports are of paramount importance to citizens and residents, as they help in planning daily activities and avoiding areas with high dust levels, especially for those with respiratory conditions and asthma. Experts always advise staying updated by official authorities and adhering to traffic safety guidelines while driving in dusty or rainy weather to ensure everyone's safety.
