Today's weather: Rain and fog in Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and the highlands
The National Center for Meteorology issued its detailed daily report on weather conditions for today, Monday, indicating weather fluctuations in several regions of the Kingdom, ranging from chances of rainfall to the formation of dense fog that may affect horizontal visibility.
Weather conditions details on land
The center explained in its statement that the sky will be partly to mostly cloudy across most regions, with a chance of light and scattered rain. This chance is particularly high over parts of the southwestern highlands of the Kingdom, which typically include the highlands of Asir, Jazan, and Al-Baha, where the mountainous terrain contributes to the formation of rain clouds.
In a related development, the center issued important alerts for drivers and highway users, warning of continued fog formation during the early morning and late night hours. This warning covers large parts of the Riyadh region, the Eastern Province, and the Northern Borders region. This weather phenomenon directly impacts traffic safety, necessitating caution and maintaining safe distances while driving.
Red Sea conditions and maritime navigation
Regarding maritime traffic and fishing in the Red Sea, the report detailed surface wind patterns, which will be northeasterly to northerly in the northern and central parts, with speeds ranging from 10 to 28 km/h. The situation differs in the southern part, where winds will shift to southeasterly to easterly, with speeds increasing to between 20 and 40 km/h.
The center noted that wind speeds may reach 50 km/h towards the Bab al-Mandab Strait, leading to waves of more than two meters in that area, changing the sea state from moderate to rough, which requires caution from small ships and fishing boats in that vital water area.
Arabian Gulf situation
On the eastern side of the Kingdom, the Arabian Gulf is experiencing northeasterly to northwesterly surface winds, blowing at moderate speeds ranging from 16 to 36 km/h. Wave heights in the Gulf range from half a meter to one and a half meters, resulting in calm to moderate sea conditions, which are relatively stable compared to the southern Red Sea.
The importance of following weather reports
These daily reports are of paramount importance to citizens and residents, not only for planning their daily activities but also for ensuring public safety. Following weather updates is particularly crucial during seasonal transitions, when sudden weather changes are frequent and can impact transportation, agriculture, and maritime activities.
