Saudi Arabia celebrates Kuwait's 65th National Day... historical ties

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, both its leadership and people, joins its sister nation, the State of Kuwait, in celebrating its 65th National Day, which falls on February 25th. This celebration reflects the deep-rooted fraternal relations and shared destiny between the two countries. These festivities underscore the strength of the bonds that transcend mere geographical proximity, embodying the principles of brotherhood and strategic unity.

The roots of this historic relationship go back more than 130 years, stemming from the shared visions that united the leaders of the two countries since the era of Imam Abdul Rahman Al Faisal and his son, the founding King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman - may God have mercy on him - specifically since their visit to Kuwait in 1891 AD. That era formed the cornerstone of an exceptional relationship that continued to grow and develop, passing through immortal heroic stances, perhaps the most prominent of which was the historic Saudi stance during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990 AD, when the Kingdom opened its heart and its land to its Kuwaiti brothers and harnessed all its military and political capabilities to liberate Kuwait, thus cementing the concept of "one body" in the memory of generations.

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait enjoy special relations

Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council

During the prosperous reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, relations have expanded to broader horizons through organized institutional work via the "Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council." This council aims to develop a shared vision that deepens and sustains relations between the two countries in line with the objectives of the Gulf Cooperation Council, strengthens the integrated economic system, and finds innovative solutions for the optimal utilization of existing resources.

Integration of Economic Visions 2030 and 2035

On the economic front, relations are witnessing unprecedented momentum in aligning efforts between Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Kuwait’s Vision 2035 (New Kuwait). Through these ambitious visions, both countries seek to diversify their sources of income, strengthen the role of the private sector, and attract foreign investment. Mutual investments and growing trade are tangible evidence of the success of these policies, in addition to close cooperation in the energy and oil sector, which ensures the stability of global markets and benefits the economies of the region.

The Saudi celebration of Kuwait’s National Day is not just an official protocol, but a reflection of the bonds of blood, lineage, and marriage that unite families and tribes in both countries, confirming to the whole world that Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are a model to be emulated in international relations based on mutual respect, fruitful cooperation, and sincere brotherhood that only grows stronger and more entrenched with time.
