Yemeni Minister of Religious Endowments: The security of the Kingdom is a religious duty and a shared destiny
His Excellency the Minister of Endowments and Guidance of the Republic of Yemen, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Aida Shabiba, affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has proven itself, at every historical juncture and in every critical situation, to be the elder sister and true supporter of the Arab and Islamic nations. He pointed out that the Kingdom represents an essential and indispensable pillar for ensuring stability in the region, deriving this from its great spiritual standing as the Qibla of Muslims, the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the focus of the hearts of believers from all corners of the earth.
A religious and national duty that transcends politics
Minister Shabiba emphasized that preserving the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, safeguarding its leading position, and supporting its unifying role within the Arab and Islamic world transcends mere political or diplomatic responsibility, rising to the level of a religious, moral, and national duty. He clarified that any threat to the Kingdom's security targets not only its geographical borders but also its religious symbolism and leadership role, and constitutes an attempt to undermine its pivotal role in defending the causes of the nation and protecting its resources and achievements.
Strategic and historical dimensions of the relationship
In elaborating on the significance of this statement, observers note that the Yemeni Minister of Religious Endowments' remarks come at a time when the region is facing complex geopolitical challenges, highlighting the importance of Saudi Arabia's role as a regional stabilizing force. The Kingdom, by virtue of its political, economic, and religious weight, is leading concerted efforts to promote international peace and security. Historically, the Kingdom and Yemen have been bound by deep-rooted ties that extend beyond geographical proximity to encompass social and tribal intermingling and shared economic interests. Saudi Arabia has consistently been at the forefront of providing assistance to Yemen during its various crises, whether through political support for the legitimate government or through humanitarian and development aid that has alleviated the suffering of the Yemeni people.
Unity of destiny in the face of challenges
His Excellency the Minister pointed out that the current challenges and conspiracies being hatched against the region necessitate that everyone, each according to their position and responsibility, stand united with the Kingdom, in word and deed. He affirmed that defending Saudi Arabia's stability is defending the stability of the entire region and protecting the future of its peoples. He noted that the relationship between Yemen and the Kingdom is not merely a matter of fleeting, immediate interests, but rather a fateful relationship governed by the bonds of religion, neighborliness, shared Arab identity, and a common historical and human connection.
Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Aida Shabiba concluded his statement by emphasizing that the Kingdom’s support for Yemen, and Yemen’s support for its elder sister, is a true embodiment of shared values and a single destiny that cannot be divided. He asked God Almighty to protect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership and people, and to protect Yemen and its people, and to perpetuate the bonds of love and brotherhood between the two brotherly countries, and to safeguard the security and stability of the region from all harm.
