The Oil Derivatives Pricing Committee in Jordan announced, during its regular meeting, the fuel prices effective from the first of October, as the committee reviewed the prices of oil derivatives during September and compared them with those of August, which showed a significant and large increase in the prices of crude oil and oil derivatives, amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region and their impact on global markets.
The committee stated in a statement: “Despite this global increase, and in the government’s effort to mitigate its impact on citizens and economic sectors, the committee decided to partially adjust fuel prices for October 2026.”
Gasoline and Diesel Prices
According to the committee, the price of both types of gasoline and diesel was adjusted by 50 fils per liter each, while the price of kerosene remains unchanged, as follows: Octane 90 gasoline at 1050 fils per liter, Octane 95 gasoline at 1,360 fils per liter, diesel at 900 fils per liter, and kerosene at 550 fils per liter, according to the Jordan News Agency “Petra”.
Gas Cylinder Price
According to the committee, the price of the domestic liquefied gas cylinder (12.5 kilograms) was maintained at 7 dinars, while continuing to support the liquefied petroleum gas allocated for the industrial sector with a support value of up to 1.8 million dinars for October.
The committee confirmed that local pricing of oil derivatives depends on the monthly average of global prices during the thirty days preceding the pricing day; however, the government, within the framework of the gradual policy it adopted since the beginning of the crisis, still does not reflect local prices in global prices even with the addition of tax.
The Actual Cost of Oil Derivatives
The committee added: “The actual cost of oil derivatives for the October pricing reached 1,077.32 fils per liter for diesel, with a price of 900 fils per liter, 1,043.79 fils per liter for kerosene, with a price of 550 fils per liter, Octane 90 gasoline at 1,111.68 fils per liter, with a price of 1,050 fils per liter, and Octane 95 gasoline at 1,360.08 fils per liter, with a price of 1,360 fils per liter.”
It clarified that the total support and price differences borne by the government since the beginning of the crisis until the end of September amounted to about 255 million dinars, due to the rise in the cost of oil derivatives globally and the failure to reflect actual prices in the monthly pricing, in order to alleviate the burden on consumers and the national economy.
