بعد أن أعلن الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم «يويفا» و55 اتحاداً وطنياً مقاطعة جميع مسابقات «فيفا»، احتجاجاً على خطة جياني إنفانتينو، لبيع حصة من حقوق كأس العالم لمستثمرين من القطاع الخاص، قدم كارلوس كورديرو كبير مستشاري رئيس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم، استقالته من منصبه اليوم (الجمعة) بأثر فوري احتجاجا على مقترح بيع حصة في كأس العالم.
بعد ساعات من بيان «الفيفا» الذي دافع عن المشروع متمسكا بتطبيقه وصف كورديرو الخطة بأنها «صفقة سيئة لكرة القدم».
وقال كورديرو في بيان «لأكون واضحا، لم أشارك في هذا الاقتراح وأعارضه بشكل قاطع إنها صفقة سيئة للاتحادات الأعضاء في الفيفا وصفقة سيئة لكرة القدم ولمستقبل هذه الرياضة على المدى الطويل».
وكان الفيفا أعلن مشروعا مقترحا تحت مسمى (FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) يستهدف نقل إدارة البطولات التي ينظمها الاتحاد الدولي إلى منظمة جديدة مملوكة للفيفا من أجل منح الفرصة للاتحادات الوطنية للحصول على تدفق مالي واستثمارات أكبر تساعد على تطوير كرة القدم بشكل عام.
وفجر هذا المشروع انتقادات عارمة في وجه الفيفا بعد أن أعلن الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم «يويفا» رفضه التام للمشروع بل ولوح بمقاطعة كافة البطولات التي ينظمها الفيفا.
After UEFA and 55 national federations announced a boycott of all FIFA competitions in protest against Gianni Infantino’s plan to sell a stake in World Cup rights to private investors, Carlos Cordeiro, senior advisor to the president of FIFA, submitted his resignation from his position today (Friday) effective immediately in protest against the proposal to sell a stake in the World Cup.
Hours after FIFA’s statement defending the project and insisting on its implementation, Cordeiro described the plan as “a bad deal for football.”
Cordeiro stated in a statement, “To be clear, I did not participate in this proposal and I oppose it outright. It is a bad deal for FIFA’s member associations and a bad deal for football and the future of this sport in the long term.”
FIFA had announced a proposed project under the name (FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE)) aimed at transferring the management of the tournaments organized by the international federation to a new organization owned by FIFA in order to provide national federations with greater financial flow and investments to help develop football in general.
This project sparked widespread criticism directed at FIFA after UEFA announced its complete rejection of the project and even hinted at a boycott of all tournaments organized by FIFA.
