وقال فانس في خطاب ألقاه خلال مؤتمر في ولاية تكساس في وقت الذروة: “الديمقراطيون هم حزب الكراهية. إنهم الحزب الذي يحتقر أمريكا والأشخاص الذين بنوها، والحزب الذي بإمكانه أن يجد تعاطفا مع الإرهابيين الذين نفذوا هجمات 11 سبتمبر”.
