دونيس قبل «ديربي الخليج»: هدفنا الكأس.. والعويس: غداً سترون هوية الأخضر
رفع مدرب المنتخب السعودي الأول لكرة القدم اليوناني جورجيوس دونيس، سقف الطموحات قبل مواجهة الكويت غداً في مستهل مشوار الأخضر في بطولة كأس الخليج العربي «خليجي 27»، مؤكداً أن المنتخب يدخل المنافسة بهدف واضح يتمثل في التتويج باللقب، ومشدداً على أهمية تقديم المستوى الذي يليق بالكرة السعودية ويسعد الجماهير.
وقال دونيس خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الذي يسبق المواجهة: «سعيد بوجودنا في هذه المنافسة، ويجب أن نمثل السعودية أفضل تمثيل وبالطريقة التي نسعد بها الجماهير»، مضيفاً: «هدفنا هو الفوز بالكأس ولا غيره، والأجواء العامة جميلة، ونحب اللعب الجيد، وسنظهر كل ما لدينا في مواجهة الغد».
وأوضح المدرب اليوناني أن معرفته باللاعبين أصبحت أكبر، وكذلك معرفة اللاعبين بأسلوبه وأفكاره، مشيراً إلى أن الوضع الحالي مختلف عما كان عليه في أمريكا، وأن امتلاك عدد من اللاعبين خبرات طويلة ودرجة عالية من التناغم يمثل عاملاً مهماً للأخضر.
وعن الضغوط المصاحبة للبطولة، شدد دونيس على أنها لن تؤثر في المنتخب، وقال: «أنا لست المدرب الذي يخاف، وعلينا ألا نفقد صوابنا. لدينا الجودة في اللاعبين، والأهم أن نحافظ على الثقة»، لافتاً إلى وجود عناصر شابة تحتاج إلى تعزيز التواصل والانسجام داخل أرض الملعب.
وتطرق دونيس إلى غياب مصعب الجوير، مؤكداً أنه لاعب موهوب وغيابه مؤثر، لكن ما حدث لم يترك له مجالاً للبقاء.
ورفض دونيس المقارنة بين مصعب الجوير وبين مختار علي، موضحاً أن لكل لاعب أسلوبه وإمكاناته، وأن مختار قادر على تقديم الإضافة للمنتخب.
واعتبر مدرب الأخضر مشاركة ثلاثة منتخبات خليجية خاضت كأس العالم، وهي السعودية والعراق وقطر، دليلاً على قوة المنافسة ومستواها الفني.
من جانبه، رحب حارس الأخضر محمد العويس بالمنتخبات الخليجية المشاركة، مؤكداً أن البطولة تجمع الأشقاء، وقال: «غداً واحدة من أكبر الديربيات، والجميع يعرف تاريخ الكويت في بطولات الخليج، فهو منتخب يملك تاريخاً صلباً ويعرف كيف يحضر نفسه».
وأضاف العويس: «نتمنى حصد النقاط الثلاث على أرضنا وبين جماهيرنا، وملعب الجوهرة محبب لنا، كما تتزامن المباراة مع مناسبة غالية علينا هي اليوم الوطني السعودي، وإن شاء الله تكون بداية انطلاقتنا».
وأكد حارس المنتخب السعودي أن الجماهير ستشاهد ملامح الأخضر بصورة واضحة في المواجهة، قائلاً: «غداً ستشاهدون هوية المنتخب السعودي، ولدينا استحقاقان مهمان، الخليج وآسيا، ولا يوجد وقت طويل بينهما».
The head coach of the Saudi national football team, Greek Georgios Donis, raised the bar of ambitions ahead of the match against Kuwait tomorrow, marking the start of the Green’s journey in the Arabian Gulf Cup “Gulf 27.” He confirmed that the team enters the competition with a clear goal of winning the title, emphasizing the importance of delivering a performance that befits Saudi football and delights the fans.
Donis said during the press conference preceding the match: “I am happy to be in this competition, and we must represent Saudi Arabia in the best way possible that brings joy to the fans,” adding: “Our goal is to win the cup and nothing else. The overall atmosphere is beautiful, we love good play, and we will show everything we have in tomorrow’s match.”
The Greek coach clarified that his knowledge of the players has grown, as well as the players’ understanding of his style and ideas, pointing out that the current situation is different from what it was in America, and that having several players with extensive experience and a high degree of harmony is an important factor for the Green.
Regarding the pressures accompanying the tournament, Donis stressed that they will not affect the team, saying: “I am not the coach who fears, and we must not lose our composure. We have quality in the players, and the most important thing is to maintain confidence,” noting that there are young elements that need to enhance communication and harmony on the field.
Donis addressed the absence of Musab Al-Juwair, confirming that he is a talented player and his absence is impactful, but what happened left him no choice but to leave.
Donis rejected comparisons between Musab Al-Juwair and Mukhtar Ali, explaining that each player has his own style and capabilities, and that Mukhtar is capable of adding value to the team.
The Green’s coach considered the participation of three Gulf teams that have competed in the World Cup—Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Qatar—as evidence of the strength of the competition and its technical level.
For his part, Green goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais welcomed the participating Gulf teams, confirming that the tournament brings together brothers, and said: “Tomorrow is one of the biggest derbies, and everyone knows Kuwait’s history in the Gulf tournaments; it is a team with a solid history and knows how to prepare itself.”
Al-Owais added: “We hope to earn the three points on our home ground and among our fans. The Jewel Stadium is dear to us, and the match coincides with a precious occasion for us, which is Saudi National Day, and God willing, it will be the start of our journey.”
The Saudi national team goalkeeper confirmed that the fans will see the features of the Green clearly in the match, saying: “Tomorrow you will see the identity of the Saudi national team, and we have two important entitlements, the Gulf and Asia, and there is not much time between them.”
