Standard & Poor’s credit rating agency confirmed the Kingdom’s credit rating at “A+” with a stable outlook, according to its recently released report.

The agency explained in its report that its confirmation of the Kingdom’s credit rating with a stable outlook reflects the Kingdom’s ability to withstand pressures arising from geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, including the diversification of the Kingdom’s energy export infrastructure, along with the Kingdom’s resilience and its capacity to leverage its vast potential in oil storage and refining both domestically and internationally.

The agency indicated that the stable outlook reflects the continued momentum of non-oil growth and the non-oil revenues associated with it, along with the government’s ability to rearrange investment spending priorities related to Saudi Vision 2030, which supports the economy and the financial trajectory.

The agency pointed out that non-oil activities have maintained their resilience despite geopolitical tensions, supported by sustained consumer spending.

The agency projected a decline in real GDP by 0.9% in 2026, followed by a growth of 8.2% in 2027, driven by increased oil production, with an average growth of 3.3% during 2028 and 2029. The agency also mentioned that the non-oil sector—including government activities—currently represents about 70% of GDP, up from 65% in 2018, reflecting the results of economic diversification efforts.

The agency noted that the net assets of the public government represent one of the main elements of strength for the Kingdom, and it stated that foreign currency reserves have reached their highest levels since early 2020. It clarified that the continued rearrangement of priorities in implementing projects under Saudi Vision 2030 would contribute to the robustness of public finances, and it anticipated that the Kingdom would continue to adopt a prudent and flexible approach in this regard, while remaining committed to achieving the targets of Saudi Vision 2030 without impacting public finances. The agency also expected that ongoing structural reforms would support the growth of the non-oil sector.
