وذكرت الوزارة في بيان: “تعلن وزارة الخارجية، باسم حكومة كولومبيا، أنها قطعت رسميًا العلاقات الدبلوماسية مع الجمهورية الإسلامية الإيرانية اعتبارًا من 19 سبتمبر 2026”.

وأرجعت السلطات الكولومبية القرار إلى عدة أسباب، من بينها مسائل تتعلق بالأمن القومي، وإغلاق مضيق هرمز، وعرقلة إيران عمليات التفتيش التي تجريها الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية.
