وأضاف بانيتا أن الحرب مع إيران قد تتحول إلى “حرب أبدية أخرى في الشرق الأوسط”، من دون أفق واضح لنهايتها”.
وأكد في مقابلة مع صحيفة الغارديان، أن “أمريكا وإيران عالقتان في حالة جمود خطيرة، حيث توجد خيارات محدودة جداً لإنهاء هذه الحرب”.
