وأوضح وزير النقل الفرنسي فيليب تابارو، أن القطار كان يقوم برحلة بين مدينتي روان وكاين في منطقة النورماندي، قبل أن يخرج عن مساره في إقليم السين ماريتيم، فيما أفادت سلطات الإقليم أن الحادث وقع قرابة الساعة 19:45 بالتوقيت المحلي.
وأشار الادعاء العام في روان إلى أن من بين المصابين امرأة حالتها “حرجة”، فيما جاءت نتائج فحوصات سائق القطار سلبية.
وأكدت الشركة الوطنية لإدارة السكك الحديدية، أن الأولوية تتمثل في الاعتناء بالمسافرين وتأمين عودة حركة القطارات إلى طبيعتها، مبينةً أنها تعمل مع الشرطة للتحقيق في ملابسات الحادث.
